Expert Guidance For Your Board

It is time to address critical questions about the board’s skills and performance.  With his expertise, Jim McKerlie identifies areas for improvement, helping boards add significant value to their companies.

The Challenge

Board Performance Review

Do you have the right composition and structure?
How well did the board dynamics and processes work?
Did you have efficient monitoring, reporting and risk management?
Is there clarity about strategy and alignment with management?
Did the committee perform adequately?

Director Skills Assessment

Have you identified the skills required by the board to meet the needs of the Company?
Have you assessed the level of capability in each of these skills?
Has there been adequate development for directors in areas of need?

The Solution

Our Process

We start with a discussion with your Chair to understand the context of the reviews, to identify any particular issues that need to be covered and who should be involved in the reviews. Kendo then invites each participant complete the online questionnaire. Participants will be provided with support if required. Once all responses are completed (and Kendo will send a gentle nudge if required) the results are processed and reports generated. These will be provided to your Chair and Jim will debrief on the outcomes.

Debrief with Experienced Chair

Once the results are available your Chair or the whole board can have a debrief with Jim who will give pragmatic advice on any steps that you need to take.
This will be a frank, open and honest discussion. If there are sensitive issues that need to be brought into the open they will be dealt with sensitivity and a realistic assessment of the options.

As an experienced director with decades of experience on public company boards in Australia and overseas, I can attest that the responsibility of a director in contempory Australia represents unique challenges.

The evolving regulatory landscape, heighted scrutiny from shareholder groups, stakeholders and the fourth estate, the rapid pace of technological advancement and disruptive economies put greater demands on boards than ever before.

Balancing these demands, whilst ensuring robust oversight requires a keen understanding of the core principles of governance and the essence of managing a business. It is an intricate dance of finding sustainability and fostering growth.
